When Used With an Internal Web Server
The Client/Server Inventory Software can be installed on several
client Computers and the Database is installed on the Web Server. A Drive
Letter is mapped to the inventory database on the web server. This allows all
client systems to access the database. The Web Shopping cart is then installed
on the web Server and has access to the same folder containing the database.
Users that log into the web shopping cart may browse for parts and Add them to
their cart. When the user checks out , the Web Cart creates a pending order in
the inventory system. The stockroom personal may then process the pending order
into a sales order and send it to the printer along with an optional Barcode
Pick List. A barcode Scanner may be used to issue the parts on the sales order
to the user requesting the parts.
When Used With an External Web Server
The Client/Server Inventory Application can be installed on several
client Computers and the Database is copied to a File Server. A Drive
letter is mapped to the inventory database on the file server. The Database is
copied to the External Web Server. When the shopping cart user checks out , a
pending order is created. The Shopping cart will then send an email to the
administrator notifying them of the pending order. The Administrator will log
into the Web Control panel and download the pending order database file
and import the file into the inventory system. The stockroom personal may
then process the pending order into a sales order and send it to the printer
along with an optional Barcode Pick list. A Barcode Scanner may be used to
issue the parts on the sales order to the customer.
